BSP: The topic of the vote was mainly directed against the former PP government - 1

“After the fifth vote of no confidence, which did not pass in parliament, I do not believe that the stability of the ruling coalition is seriously threatened“, said in the studio of “Offensive” BSP MP Vladimir Georgiev.

According to him, the topic of the vote was mainly directed against the former “We continue the change“ (PP) government, and not against the current government, which has weakened the effect of the initiative. “Some of their arguments exposed their own managerial mistakes“, Georgiev pointed out.

Georgiev expressed disagreement with the escalation of tension surrounding the protests in defense of Blagomir Kotsev, defined by the PP as a “political prisoner“. “I do not accept talk of interference in the judiciary. This is part of a tactic to mobilize the electorate“, he commented.

Regarding upcoming legislative changes – including limiting the use of the NSO and transferring powers to appoint heads of SANS, DATO and the Intelligence Agency from the president to the parliament – Georgiev said: “I am not a supporter of abrupt changes. It makes sense for important appointments to go through a debate in the National Assembly, but these issues should be discussed calmly, without appearing like an attack on the institutions“.

He admitted that a possible political project around President Rumen Radev could influence the BSP electorate, but stressed that the Socialists would strive to maintain the trust of their voters.

“I am sure that a large part of our supporters would think about whether to support him. As a party, we are working to ensure that people understand that our participation in power is not at any cost“, he stressed.

Regarding the IMF's recommendations for a change in tax policy, Georgiev reminded that the BSP has long insisted on progressive taxation. “We will put the topic on the table of the joint government. We must seek justice while protecting the most vulnerable,“ he pointed out.

According to the MP, the water supply crisis has also shown the need for better coordination between institutions. “The appointment of Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov as Chairman of the National Water Board shows responsibility. But the solution will not come quickly – this is a problem that has been accumulating for years,“ Georgiev said.
