We would like to be among the first to have small modular nuclear reactors. These reactors are extremely flexible, they are built in 4 years. Four small modular reactors would cost about 13 billion euros. If compared to large reactors, they come out even more profitable. We need to see where in Bulgaria there are convenient sites for them, he said.
Since the beginning of the year, electricity consumption has increased by 5-7% and if it continues at this rate, we will need additional capacity, he added.
According to him, the necessary quantities of natural gas for the winter for our country have been agreed.
The vertical gas corridor allows us to increase gas imports by 50%, and the Romanian one by 100%., the Minister of Energy pointed out.
In response to a question, Zhecho Stankov specified that he does not expect any significant changes in the price of natural gas in the winter.
He also noted that active work is underway to terminate the contract for the transit of Russian gas next year.
