Adv. Ina Lulcheva to FACTI: The arguments for the detention of Blagomir Kotsev are untenable (VIDEO) - 1

In our opinion, the arguments for the detention of Blagomir Kotsev are quite untenable. There is talk of a hypothetical possibility that he influenced witnesses, but neither this has been established as a fact, nor is there any data in the case that such influence was exerted by him or by the Commission for Combating Corruption. It should be recalled the case of the so-called “mystical witness“ Dian Ivanov. He was initially questioned and gave some testimony, after which he officially stated that they were made under pressure. Later, he gave detailed testimony about the pressure that was exerted on him by the acting chairman and other employees of the commission. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the “FACTI“ studio and the program “Conversation“ lawyer Ina Lulcheva.

“I hope the prosecutor's office will reconsider the detention of Mr. Kotsev. A request has been submitted for his release by the prosecutor's office itself. We have submitted a request to the court to change the measure to a lighter one. There is absolutely no reason for it to be continued. By law, the prosecutor's office can change the measure itself, without waiting for the court's ruling. The prosecutors in the case have already stated that the detention of the other defendants is not necessary and they were released. We expect symmetrical application of the law and the same approach to be applied to Mr. Kotsev“, added lawyer Lulcheva.

“The prosecutor's office is obliged to issue a ruling within seven days, although this deadline is instructive. Even if it is not met, there are no automatic consequences, but we will wait for the ruling. We are convinced that there are no grounds for continuing Mr. Kotsev's detention.
