President Rumen Radev sent a letter to the Head of the National Security Service in connection with the adopted amendments to the NSO Law. In it, he announced that as a sign of solidarity from October 20, he will travel in his personal car "in cases where employees of the presidential administration are forced to use their personal cars in the performance of their official duties", summarized "Nova TV".

We recall that in early October, the parliament decided that the cars of the National Security Service (NSO) should not transport the administration of the presidential institution.

Previously, the deputies took away the president's authority to sign decrees on the appointment of heads of services. The amendments to the law were introduced by the former Minister of Interior and MP from "DPS-New Beginning" Kalin Stoyanov.

He announced that he was provoked to propose the bill after President Rumen Radev traveled around Varna in early August with a motorcade of 7 cars.

Here is the letter from the head of state:

„Dear Major General,

The Law on Amendments to the Law on the National Security Service adopted by the 51st National Assembly cancels the transport provision of the presidency administration by the service you lead without any alternative for official transport.

I inform you that as of 20.10.2025, I will travel in my personal car in cases where employees of the presidency administration are forced to use their personal cars in the performance of their official commitments related to state ceremony and protocol and events from the work program of the president.

As a commander of the Bulgarian Army, I have never abandoned my subordinates in difficult situations, in which they were often placed by the decisions of empowered politicians. As the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, I will not violate my principles and will remain in solidarity with the employees of the institution. I am convinced that when the political class votes laws that destroy the state, we, the Bulgarian citizens, must rebuild it. And this begins with personal integrity and the restoration of trust between citizens and politicians.

I believe that you, as a general responsible for your subordinates, understand and share my motives.“
