The political crisis is a consequence of the financial one. Pazardzhik is just a theatrical occasion for Borisov to seek a reformatting of the majority. The reason is the approaching financial tornado.
The leader of "Unruly Bulgaria" Cornelia Ninova warned about this.
Boyko is running from the storm. As a person who has proven that he does not like to bear responsibility. The budget is abysmal. The deficit is 6-7%. Inflation - for now - is 5.6%. According to the governor of the BNB, it is already above the average for the Eurozone. Currently, we do not meet the financial and economic criteria for the Eurozone by any indicator. The debt ceiling of 18 billion is almost used up. There is no money. Even the Fiscal Council and the Bulgarian National Bank unanimously warn that we are approaching a Romanian scenario. A similar situation in France has swept the government.
Borisov does not want to bear responsibility. Mid-October has passed, and his government has not yet prepared the budget for 2026. Critically late! The rulers have missed the economy, increased spending and cannot cope with revenues. And now they are in a panic - should they raise taxes or cut salaries and pensions? Assen Vassilev is complaining that the political crisis could lead to a financial one. It's a mess! It's exactly the opposite! The financial crisis led to a political one.
I have always argued that the fall of this government could occur through a financial and economic collapse. And so it is. That is why, before and now, I believe that only a radical economic plan for GDP growth can get us out of the collapse. But Borisov and his affiliated majoritarian parties can neither invent it nor implement it. They are part of the problem, not the solution.
