Metodi Lalov to FACTI: Europe cannot stand idly by while Bulgaria turns into a legal mess (VIDEO) - 1

In recent months, the topic of the rule of law and the state of the judicial system in Bulgaria has once again come to the fore. The problems with the rule of law in Bulgaria, such as they are, cannot be considered an internal problem. Our European partners should not only help us, but also control and sanction us when we do not cope. And we are clearly not coping with this topic. This was announced to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACTI“ and the program “Conversation“ by lawyer Metodi Lalov.

“Instead, we see bureaucracy, a bureaucratic attitude. Europe looks after its own interests – each country individually. And in the West, let's be honest, they don't care what's happening in Bulgaria. And we are part of this family. You can't not care. You can't allow Bulgaria to become a mess in terms of compliance with the law. Europe cannot stand idly by while Bulgaria becomes a legal mess," the lawyer added.

„Now we have an example with Blagomir Kotsev, around whom we see a big nothing. Or Borislav Sarafov – not only is he not sanctioned after he refuses to hand over the post of chief prosecutor, but the prosecutorial college of the Supreme Judicial Council helps him after he literally occupied this post. The Supreme Judicial Council is entangled in dependencies, friendships and all sorts of illegitimate connections and interests," the guest added.

„Everyone is waiting for the Constitutional Court to decide. But he has been hanging around for six months now. The Constitutional Court is neither that busy, nor is the issue that complicated. They had to work around the clock to unravel this case. Because things cannot continue like this. And the Constitutional Court itself, as it is currently structured, is woven from political and economic dependencies. I personally do not have high hopes there, but how the state will work depends on this decision of the Constitutional Court," the lawyer also shared.
