The "Continuing Change - Democratic Bulgaria" coalition demanded that the government's draft budget be withdrawn and completely revised. In the "Live Day" program on NOVA NEWS, MP Martin Dimitrov defined the financial plan as a "war against the middle class and business" and warned that submitting it to parliament in its current form would be a "big mistake".
According to him, the proposed financial plan has "passed all reasonable limits". He warned the ruling party not to persist and not submit the project to parliament in its current form. "If they continue to persist in submitting it, they will make a very big mistake", the MP emphasized.
Increasing taxes and social security contributions
Dimitrov listed several specific measures in the draft budget, which, according to him, are a direct blow to citizens and entrepreneurs. "Who is to blame for lying? Who is to blame for saying "they will not raise taxes," he asked rhetorically, defining this step as "a very heavy blow to business and enterprising people."
He also criticized the increase in social security contributions by two percentage points. "This means that every average family with two workers, people, will pay 100 leva more every month," commented Dimitrov. He added to the list the record increase in the maximum social security income.
According to Dimitrov, the government is not making even a "passive attempt to reduce costs" and is not proposing any reforms, although the PP-DB has proposed between 30 and 40 specific measures for greater efficiency, including in the field of healthcare. "Enough with the excuses! The first budget they adopted was justified. Now they are justifying themselves again. "Now the responsibility is entirely theirs," he said.
