1. Leftists should protect working people - employed or self-employed. The 2026 budget harms them because they will pay higher social security contributions. Thus, the amount that remains from their salary decreases. Their food vouchers are frozen. All prices and their bills have been increased. Only food is 20% higher. The promised shops for the people are gone. Impoverishment is guaranteed.
2. The Left should fight inequality. Yes, but no. In the 2026 Budget, inequality will grow. Pensions increase once a year by 8% and reach an average pension of 1,015 leva. The salaries of MPs and about 400 other people from the political elite increase every three months automatically with the growth of the average salary and reach 15,000 leva. A reserve is set aside in the budget of the National Assembly to guarantee that no matter what happens, MPs' salaries will increase. Directors of state-owned companies receive 22,000 leva per month. Well, that's anything but fighting inequality.
3. The Left should protect small and family businesses and fight monopolies and corporations. Our – quite the opposite: small businesses will also pay higher social security contributions as employers and will pay for new software, while banks accumulate nearly 3 billion in excess profits and no one is bothering them. The financial transactions of the big sharks also remain untaxed. Concessionaires continue to pay low concession fees. One MP joked that big capital will pay. You are ridiculous. Big capital will pay nothing, but small and medium-sized businesses, the middle class, will suffer.
4. The left usually cares about young people and children. Our “lefts“ – do not. Tax breaks for working parents with children are not budging. Student aid too. Free medicines for children have remained an illusion. There are no incentives for young people to start businesses.
5. And now – the big “leftist“ bombshell: capitalists would pay a higher tax on dividends. This would brighten the economy and fill the budget. And - oh, surprise! - with a 10% dividend tax, the revenues in the 2026 Budget are less than those with a 5% dividend tax from 2025. They fall from 88 million euros to 86 million. Now, can someone explain to me how this works? You raise the tax by 100%, and you reduce the revenues from it. And on top of that, you brag about how left-wing you are and how you punish the rich.
