Four protests in the capital against the expansion of parking zones

"I want to warn people who live in a green zone, which will become a blue zone, that they will not pay twice as much, but will pay three times as much, because until now they have been paying 100 leva, and from next year they will pay 150 euros," says Mariyan Tashev, organizer of one of the protests

Four protests in the capital against the expansion of parking zones - 1

On November 23 at 1:00 p.m., a protest is being organized in front of the Sofia Municipality against the expansion of parking zones in Sofia and the increase in their prices, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.

"There are four protests. I am the administrator of the group that was created against the increase in the prices of the zones and the expansion of their scope. The first protest will be on Thursday (November 20) and is organized by the group of "Studentski grad". They will close the intersection of the UNWE, most likely. A little later the same day - at 4:30 p.m. in front of the Sofia Municipality building - there will be another protest.

On Saturday (November 22), on the "Chavdar" bridge, i.e. on the border of "Sukhata Reka" and "Hadzhi Dimitar" the intersection will be closed. There will be a human chain of people who will completely block the "Chavdar" bridge from 12:00, and the protest that I am organizing will be on Sunday (November 23) at 1:00 in front of the Sofia Municipality building," says the organizer of the protest, Mariyan Tashev, who lives in "Sukhata Reka" and works in the center.

From the very beginning of the conversation, Mariyan Tashev refuted the thesis circulating in the public space that people who already live in areas where zones have been introduced are satisfied with this measure and are not protesting.

"I immediately refute this by saying that the organizer of the protest, which will be on Thursday in front of the Sofia Municipality, is a resident of a green zone and is about to become a blue zone if this change is introduced. "I want to warn people who live in a green zone, which will become a blue zone, that they will not pay twice as much, but they will pay three times as much, because until now they have been paying 100 leva, and from next year they will pay 150 euros," says Mariyan Tashev.

Furthermore, according to the organizer of the protest, the documents that Mayor Vasil Terziev and "Save Sofia" rely on for the upcoming change are not a representative sample of those living in the capital.
