One in three women is a victim of violence. This is shown by UN data, reports BNT.
In the last 12 months, 316 million women around the world have been victims of physical or sexual violence by their partners.
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a protest is being held in front of the Courthouse under the slogan "Not One More".
The protesters want to show solidarity with all girls and women who have experienced or become victims of violence.
And they insist: The Law on Protection from Domestic Violence should protect every victim of such, regardless of the duration of the relationship, their race, ethnicity, age, disability, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, economic status and other dimensions.
They also demand an immediate end to institutional violence against trans women and LGBTI people.
As well as having crisis and counseling centers for victims of violence in every area in the country.
People here insist that specific plans be presented as soon as possible about where, how many, capacity and funds allocated for this.
Today, dozens of statues of female figures and monuments in Sofia have red ribbons with the inscription "Not one more".
This is part of the initiatives for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls.
