Another fine of 200 thousand leva for Bobov Dol TPP confirmed

The Kyustendil Administrative Court upheld a penal decree for a fine of 200 thousand leva for Bobov Dol TPP, imposed by the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Water. The decision is final.

The fine is for dust and air pollution in the area of the plant, confirmed by the Dupnitsa District Court in August last year, which the energy company is appealing. During an extraordinary inspection following a report of heavy dust in the air in Golemo Selo, 700 meters away, inspectors from the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Water found that unorganized brown dust emissions were spreading from the part of the site where an open "coal warehouse" was located as a result of unloading activities - unloading coal from heavy equipment. It was found that the coal was dumped from the gondolas of the trucks and pushed with excavators, and during this activity the irrigation system was not working and no measures were taken to limit the emissions of dusty substances.

Recently, the Administrative Court - Kyustendil again canceled a fine of 220 thousand leva imposed on the TPP by the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and Water and confirmed at first instance by the District Court - Dupnitsa due to procedural shortcomings in the issuance of the penal decree. The sanctions for the Bobov Dol TPP for various environmental violations are piling up and are already around 5 million leva, announced the mayor of Golemo Selo Vasil Vasev at a protest months ago.
