Plamen Dimitrov: The resignation of the cabinet does not solve the issue of people waiting for salaries - 1

Social discontent will erupt and we will lead it. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Plamen Dimitrov, President of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions.

"The Parliament has shown its irresponsibility. The opposition has ridden the wave of protest, and the ruling majority until recently did not have the courage to explain that this budget is not only for the salaries of the police officers and the head of the KPKONPI. There are salaries for 470 thousand people who are rightfully waiting for their compensation at least for inflation.

There are salaries with a huge differentiation for the same position. We are talking not only about state administration, but also about teachers, scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, about the entire healthcare system, about those working in social activities, in culture, in the media.

Analysts say that it will be difficult to form a government. And the coming months, which are winter, will be even more difficult. We have repeatedly warned politicians not to do what they did".

He expects a national wave of protests.

"The resignation of the cabinet does not solve the issue of people waiting for salaries. The protest will be social, not so much moral".

Dimitrov explained that the expression of popular discontent is expected to begin at the end of January.

He also commented on the request of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions for additional funds in the amount of 62 million euros for underfunded structures in the sectors of "Public Administration", "Transport" and others.

"With the adoption of an extension law, it will be very difficult. Maintenance will be a big problem for many of the institutions. It remains at the level of January 2025. I do not see where the government will get additional funds. However, this does not prevent people from asking for them".
