Social workers in Shumen change the lives of children at risk with empathy and daily support - 1

“A small change can mean a big difference in a child's life“, says Teodora Todorova – social worker in the “Child Protection“ Department of the “Social Assistance“ Directorate – Shumen. Every day she and her colleagues meet children in difficult life situations – poverty, neglect, abandonment, violence. And they give all their energy, empathy and professionalism to change their lives for the better.

Proof is the story of Nikol, who reported that she and her younger sister were living in an environment of domestic abuse. Months of constant work with the family followed – meetings with the children and the mother, so that they can be together today, but united, understanding and supporting each other.

Love, attention and warm care are also heroes in the story of the foster parent Rosi Angelova, who opened her home to “nobody's children“, because she believes that every child needs love, happiness and to meet their day with a smile.

You can find out how social workers in Shumen help children at risk and change their destinies from the video published on the profiles of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) on social networks (here we put links to the already published video on YouTube and Facebook).

It is part of the MLSP campaign “The Silent Support of Big Hearts”. It presents the mission of social workers through six stories - to help not only during the holidays, but every day, and to give hope.
