"Do not stay outdoors. There is a danger of falling objects. Enter a public building, underpass, seek safe shelter", advises the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" (FHP) on its Facebook page due to the announced orange and yellow codes for strong winds in the country, quoted by Dariknews.bg.
For today, December 28, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a warning for strong winds throughout the country. An orange code has been declared for the territories of the districts of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Lovech, Sliven, Sofia, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad. A yellow code for strong winds has been declared for the rest of Bulgaria.
The Fire and Rescue Service reminds people to monitor the weather forecast and act according to the advice of the competent authorities. "If you are at home, close the doors and windows tightly. If you are on the road, stop the car in an open place, away from power lines and trees, and wait until the danger passes. If you are in the mountains, take the low places until the danger passes", the fire department added.
