Tsoncho Ganev: Political "saviors" only bring disappointment - 1

In his latest interview, the deputy chairman of “Vazrazhdane“ Tsoncho Ganev said that the key to change is active participation in the elections, but not driven by emotions, but by clear political positions.

“There should be a high voter turnout and therefore everyone who goes to vote should vote for clear policies, not for emotions and not with the expectation that a savior will come in the person of anyone.“, he commented.

Ganev emphasized that a significant part of Bulgarian society is against entering the eurozone and this is clearly evident from the sociological surveys in recent years. “A part of Rumen Radev's voters, not to say the main, the vast majority of his voters, are part of those 80% of Bulgarians who do not want entry and did not want entry into the eurozone.“, he pointed out and specified that according to various sociological data, the percentage varies between 50 and 60 percent, and in certain studies it reaches 70-80%.

According to the MP, it is these people who embody public dissatisfaction with the decision to introduce the euro. “These people embody the entry into the eurozone of the political forces that brought us in - these are GERB, “New Beginning“, PP-DB, ITN and BSP.“, he said.

According to him, a large part of the citizens who have not voted so far are precisely those who are disappointed with this political model and there are expectations that they will become more active in the next elections.

“The vast majority of them will go and vote, I hope, another part of them will vote for the new political entity Radev. The question is what he expects to happen to these people if he forms a coalition with those who pushed us into the eurozone.“, emphasized Tsoncho Ganev.

He warned that such a political scenario would have negative consequences for both trust in politics and voter turnout. “Nothing good politically for him. The bad thing is that when we talk about the low voter turnout next time, it didn't come out of nowhere.“, he said.

According to Ganev, Bulgarians have reason not to believe the promises of politicians. “We cannot be angry with the Bulgarian people for not going to vote, because they have been lied to for 37 years by such “saviors“. Thirty-seven years and that's why people don't believe.“, he emphasized.

In his speech, the MP also returned to President Rumen Radev's position on the topic of the euro and the referendum. “We know that he is for the euro. The question is what political signals he is giving.“, he said and recalled that a year and a half ago Radev publicly rejected the idea of a referendum, arguing with the “civilizational choice“ of Bulgaria.

„Only a year and a half later, already knowing and making the calculations of how he would enter politics as a leader, he started talking about calling a referendum.“, Ganev pointed out.

He added that during recent meetings with the president, a direct question was asked about his personal position - lev or euro, but no answer was given.

„And now we are in a situation where between the lev and the euro, Rumen Radev chose the Turkish lira, giving the mandate to the APS.“, Tsoncho Ganev added.

In his words, the backstage agreements and political compromises are a signal that voters must clearly read. „Let these be lights that light up in the minds of the people who will go to vote for him emotionally. I completely understand them - they are expecting another savior.“, he said, adding that it is these people who are subsequently the most disappointed.

In conclusion, Tsoncho Ganev said: “You cannot deny that we are consistent. When we say that we will not enter a government that will bring us into the eurozone with false data, we do not enter such a government precisely and only because of that.“
