Gabriel Valkov: Prices are rising, and people's incomes do not correspond to their growth - 1

Prices are rising, and people's incomes do not correspond to their growth, said Gabriel Valkov from the parliamentary group of "BSP - United Left" to journalists on the sidelines of the parliament. From the very beginning, we have been insisting on social spending in the budget, he also said.

The "BSP-United Left" yesterday proposed that the parliament consider the budget for 2026, submitted by the government in resignation at the end of 2025, BTA recalled.

Our proposals in the budget are clear, they have been coordinated with the unions and employers, the MP also said. According to him, they have proposed increasing payments that raise people's incomes, including the minimum wage, maternity benefits, pensions, and that teachers' salaries be 125% of the average salary. Valkov added that the salaries of young doctors are also part of the budget and can be increased through it.

The caretaker government, which is about to take office, is also left without a budget, said Valkov. According to him, the country may enter a spiral of elections and not have an adopted budget for the entire year, working with one twelfth of the budget for 2025. This is a problem – There is inflation, and we are working with a budget that was adopted a year ago, the MP explained.

When asked by a journalist if a pre-election budget is adopted, whether it will not lead to “money being distributed to the poor”, Valkov replied that it is a matter of common sense on the part of the parties.

There is not enough political will from the other parties to solve the problems of the people, said Valkov. According to him, the parties are not interested in the income of the people and the MPs are engaged in all sorts of other things, instead of solving the problems of Bulgarian citizens.
