Relatives of those who died in accidents briefly closed the intersection of "Orlov Most" in Sofia and placed 456 carnations on the roadway. That's how many victims of road accidents there were last year, Petya Ivanov from the "Angels on the Road" Association, organizer of the protest march, in which many citizens also participated, explained to BTA.

She pointed out that these flowers are in memory of all those who lost their lives on the roads, not only in the last year.

Those present observed a minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in road accidents.

We will leave the flowers there on the road so that cars can pass through them, as they passed through the souls of our loved ones, because this society must wake up and understand that no one is insured, said Petya Ivanova. We are here precisely so that everyone can go home, she added.

Here among these flowers is my child, who was supposed to go to school, to create, and she became famous for being killed, said Siyana's father Nikolay Popov. He noted that these are nearly 500 lives lost in just one year. Our goal is to stop these murders on the roads and for there to be justice, Popov pointed out.

We cannot wait for years for auto technical examinations and during this time proven murderers are at large, Petya Ivanova commented to BTA. We have repeatedly asked the ministers of health to provide psychological assistance to the relatives of the deceased, she noted. Ivanova pointed out that people with multiple traffic violations should work in hospitals, in morgues, and take care of accident victims so that they can think. According to her, work should be done with students in the 11th and 12th grades, since many of the young people in the 12th grade already have driver's licenses.

The protest under the slogan "Enough Death on the Roads" began in front of the Courthouse and then continued with a procession through the streets of the capital to Orlov Bridge. People who carried photos of their deceased loved ones demanded justice and an end to the "war on the roads".

Finally, the gathered people thanked and applauded the police officers from the SDVR, who stopped traffic on Orlov Bridge so that today's action in memory of the victims on the roads could take place. Traffic in the area has already been restored.
