The new Minister of Agriculture Ivan Hristanov: Bulgarian land is not an asset, not a scheme - it is memory, bread and root

Ivan Hristanov took over the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food with clearly stated priorities - adequate care for the sector, ensuring adequate conditions for fair elections, fighting corruption and theft, closing all channels for draining public resources and building sustainable policies that guarantee security and predictability for Bulgarian agricultural producers and society. During the transfer of power, the importance of continuity in working with industry organizations and administrative readiness for the upcoming payments to agricultural producers and the launch of the direct payments campaign was emphasized. At the ceremony, Mr. Georgi Tahov wished success to Minister Hristanov, the press center of the ministry reports.
Upon taking office, Ivan Hristanov stated: “Bulgaria has no time to waste. The ministry will work like never before.
The ministry will be a real instrument that will rewrite the meaning of a working state – an instrument for order, an instrument for justice, an instrument for protecting Bulgarian land and an instrument for stopping theft. Bulgarian land is not an asset. It is not a plot of land. It is not a scheme – it is memory, bread and roots. Without its land, Bulgaria has no people. Without caring for its land, Bulgaria is not a state. Long years of mismanagement and corrupt practices undermined trust in institutions and turned the state from a guarantor into an observer. This ends today.
The ministry will no longer be an observer. Under my leadership, we will rewrite the definition of a working ministry in action. We will shine a light on every scheme that has seized the labor of honest people. There will be real state control, real transparency and zero tolerance for abuse.
We will work side by side with farmers, with producers and with all those who want to develop, not absorb. Everyone who works honestly will have the support of the institution. State resources will be managed responsibly, transparently and in the interest of citizens. Control will be clear and consistent, and institutions will act confidently and with care for society. There will be results that can be seen and felt.
A truly working ministry means presence on the ground, prevention instead of reaction and decisions in the public interest, not in political comfort. I will be among the people every day.
