A total of 35 treatments with anti-icing mixtures were carried out last night in Sofia due to the sub-zero temperatures, the Sofia Municipality announced, NOVA reported.
As of 08:00, public transport is moving along its usual routes, despite the winter conditions.
The first activities began around 02:00 in the “Vitosha“ area, and subsequently covered main streets and intra-district routes in the areas “Poduyane“, “Pancharevo“, “Ovcha Kupel“ and “Novi Iskar“, as well as in the “Vrazhdebna“ quarter and the village of Zhelyava. Work has also been carried out on the municipal road network, including partially in the “Kremikovtsi“ and “Novi Iskar“ districts.
Special attention has been paid to public transport routes and key road sections to ensure safe movement. Partial work has also been carried out in smaller settlements and quarters, including Balsha, Mirovyane, Negovan and Gorna Banya.
From 05:00, snow removal and sanding of the roads in “Dragalevtsi quarter, Aleko hut“ and “Boyana quarter, Zlatnite mostove district“ in Vitosha Nature Park.
The municipality calls on drivers to use vehicles prepared for winter conditions and to drive with increased caution, and building owners to clean adjacent sidewalks and areas.
