Mihail Mikov: The caretaker cabinet is political, and the BSP is in permanent collapse - 1

The caretaker government is clearly political in nature and is more of a cabinet close to “We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria“. This was stated in “The Live Day” on NOVA NEWS by the former Speaker of the National Assembly Mihail Mikov in a comment on the current political situation.

According to him, the cabinet will try to “maximally revive“ the formations with which it is associated. “It could have been formed a little more colorfully“, he noted: “They took power for a while - let them enjoy themselves.“

Mikov criticized the creation of the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Fair Elections, which he described as a “ridiculous position“. According to him, fair elections are an institutional obligation, not an occasion for political demonstrations.

“Shamelessness in our society has become a form of behavior“, he commented and expressed hope that the upcoming vote will still be fair. According to him, there is currently a lack of real politics, and instead there is a “battle for votes“, through which power will subsequently be consumed.

Regarding the Minister of Interior Emil Dechev, Mikov pointed out that he has the right to choose professional leadership with which to work. According to him, however, two months is too short a period to change attitudes in the system.

He warned that because of the investigation surrounding “Petrohan“ all the minister's appointments should not be automatically questioned. “This drama with a political context shows that the minister wants political changes“, said Mikov.

At the same time, he criticized the practice of seeking external help for internal problems. “We like to ask for help from abroad when we are not doing our job. Be gentler with foreigners“, he said. According to him, external expertise can be useful, but sometimes it is used mainly to calm public opinion.

Mikov was particularly critical of the state of the BSP. “The party is broken. There is a permanent collapse - regardless of whether it is in power or in opposition“, he said. According to him, this is about the “organizational collapse“ of the party and expressed doubt whether the Socialists will be able to pass the 4 percent barrier to enter parliament. According to him, President Rumen Radev has no interest in supporting the BSP's entry into the next National Assembly.

Internationally, Mikov said that the attitude towards Russia should be “as towards a liberator“. He predicted that the war would end by the summer, after which dialogue with both the Russians and the Ukrainians would be necessary.
