Zarkov in Kazanlak: In two months we must embark on a path that will free us from the mafia-oligarch trap - 1

“The upcoming elections are extremely important for our country – in two months we must get out of the electoral spiral and embark on a path that will free us from the mafia-oligarch trap in which we live. This is the stake.“, said the Chairman of the National Assembly of the BSP Krum Zarkov in Kazanlak. According to him, the smaller the representation of the BSP in the next parliament, the smaller Bulgaria's chances for democratic development.
During the meeting with members and sympathizers of the left from Stara Zagora, Kazanlak and Pavel Banya, the issue of the changes to the Constitution, made in 2023 and contributing to the deepening of the crisis in the country, was also discussed. “If we continue to reproduce elections that cannot lead to stable governance, the constitutional model itself will undoubtedly be attacked. This would be a risk to our freedom, and without it there can be no socialism“, Zarkov is categorical. When asked what changes should be made to the Constitution, he explained: “They were written back in 1991.“

The leader of the BSP-United Left list in the 27th MIR Ivan Krastev emphasized that one of the main pillars of the BSP in the upcoming elections will be the creation of a new taxation model. “We cannot continue to accumulate debts to cover current expenses. The state must be able to conduct its own policy, and this can only be done when there is revenue. They cannot come from taxation, from which only a few benefit. We propose a change to the model by introducing a non-taxable minimum for people with the lowest incomes, maintaining low taxation for all those earning up to 5,000 leva and proportionally increasing the rate for those who earn more“, he explained.

According to the chairwoman of the parliamentary group of the Bulgarian Socialist Party – United Left Natalia Kiselova, the options for a majority in this parliament have been categorically exhausted. She is committed to the socialists from her hometown to protect and uphold the priorities of the left.
