The national meeting due to high electricity bills will be held today at the Ombudsman. The occasion is the hundreds of signals from people from the country that are received by the institution.
The main goal of the meeting is to identify specific measures to ensure transparency, fairness and effective protection of the rights of electricity consumers. The meeting will be attended by the Ministers of Energy and Economy, the heads of KEWR and CZP, representatives of energy supply companies and consumer organizations.
A few days ago it became clear that nearly 6,800 complaints about high electricity bills have been filed since the beginning of the year to the electricity distribution company that serves Southern Bulgaria. About 60% of them have already been checked and not a single irregularity has been found. Meanwhile, the Commission for Energy Protection has already announced that they have opened a formal hearing of complaints from the energy companies. The commission specified that they will impose fines of up to 25 thousand euros on the three companies.
