Over the past few days, there has been an “avalanche increase“ in reports of election violations, said in “Face to Face” Vanya Nusheva, advisor to the acting prime minister on election issues.
„If last week we could talk about about 100 signals on the special phone of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to date there are 351“, she said.
302 are signals for vote buying, and four contain data on corporate voting.
Nusheva specified that of this significant number of signals, the share of pre-trial proceedings is also significant - 112.
„This speaks of increased trust and expectations of citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs will work much more effectively this time and not approach the signals formally“, Vanya Nusheva pointed out.
She added that the criminal proceedings that have already been completed can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
„However, it is not only crimes against political rights that matter, and administrative violations. Those committed by members of the section election commissions are also important“, explained the advisor to the acting prime minister.
According to her, a timid reaction is visible at the highest levels of the election administration when it comes to such violations.
“In order to effectively prevent any violations, it is not the severity of the sanction that is decisive, but the irrevocability of the fact that a sanction will be imposed after a violation is found. This is something that needs to be worked on more systematically“, is Vanya Nusheva's opinion.
