The discovery of GPS jammers and an anti-drone system on private property raises serious questions about security and control over such equipment. This was commented on bTV by the former Minister of the Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
According to him, such devices can be used by individuals who want to ensure their own protection.
„In my opinion, this equipment is used by individuals who want to ensure their protection, lest some unforeseen situation with an attack or with devices that can actually transmit a frequency to an explosive device arise. And from this point of view, I assume that exactly such a jammer is used in order to limit any possible communication over the Internet.“
Tsvetanov emphasized that the state must have adequate systems for protecting critical infrastructure.
„Unfortunately, the state is not so adequate with such systems or anti-drone defenses. And I hope that the political parties will reach some consensus so that such anti-drone defense can actually be built at least on the critical infrastructure in Bulgaria. Because we see that this is the future and these will be the corresponding potential threats to the country's security.“
According to him, it is paradoxical that the state does not have enough similar systems, while private individuals can use equipment that can potentially affect air traffic.
He pointed out that the control authorities must establish whether such equipment poses a threat.
„Here the problem is whether the relevant control authorities are fulfilling their respective functions, so that if this potentially threatens flights or there are any other potential threats to the normal functioning of infrastructure that serves society and is of public importance, this is already the state's problem that it has not fulfilled its commitments.“
In the conversation, the former interior minister also commented on the names of famous figures from the criminal contingent, who again appeared in the public space in connection with the case.
Tsvetanov criticized the development of the security system in recent years.
He also commented on the information about a property with high fences, black glass and underground corridors, as well as its proximity to Kapitan Andreevo.
He stated that during his term as Minister of the Interior, serious results were achieved.
„Let me just remind you that Mityo Ochite was in prison and was serving his 4-year sentence. After his early release from prison, he went to live in Greece. The Margins left the country and went to live in Spain.“
About Taki Tsvetanov he said:
„At the time when I was Minister of the Interior, he lived in Dubai. He has not visited our country. And I can say that the security system was indeed adequate then.“
„Let's not forget all these operations, which were very positive and gave a correspondingly high rating for trust in the security system - with the kidnappings, the contract killings, the tons of drugs that were seized. The international investigations that started in Bulgaria. We did them together with Europol, with the DEA, with the FBI. And I can say that I have missed this in the last 13 years.“
Tsvetanov criticized the development of the security system in recent years.
Tsvetanov also commented on the information about a property with high fences, black glass and underground corridors, as well as its proximity to Kapitan Andreevo.
He called for no speculation before the institutions establish all the facts.
“The state has allowed certain businesses to develop over the years, and when they are profitable, of course everyone takes maximum security measures, because we know that in Bulgaria, and in many countries around the world, there is always an interest in certain profitable businesses.
According to him, one cannot draw categorical conclusions about possible trafficking based only on the way the building was built.
Tsvetanov also commented on the topic of the oligarchy and the actions of the current power.
„Oligarchy is something that is created as a condition for taking advantage of public resources. And when rich people influence and set the rules in the executive branch or the legislative branch, that is exactly oligarchy.“
According to him, the results of the actions of the rulers will show whether the claims to fight the oligarchy are real.
„This is a political power that will show whether we are really effective in the fight against the oligarchy. Because I cannot say that in such a short period of time the oligarchy can be cut off. „We have eliminated the oligarchy from political power. It is already outside of it.“ We can take this as a message. But the actions and results are the ones that will provide the clear criterion of whether this is so.“
Tsvetanov also commented on the upcoming presidential elections, stating that GERB should have its own candidate.
„I believe that if GERB does not nominate a candidate for president at the moment, it means that they have already raised the white flag. And this means that GERB is already starting to decline even more than the last elections and the result they received of 450 thousand votes.
