The Procurator's College did not accept the request of I.F. chief prosecutor Sarafov and did not remove prosecutor Konst - 1

The Prosecution College refused to suspend the prosecutor from the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office, Konstantin Sulev, accused of an official crime related to the investigation against Petyo Petrov-Pepi Evroto. This was reported by lex.bg.

The collegium heard today behind closed doors the five supervising prosecutors from the SGP in the case against the influence group of Martin Bojanov, known as the Notary.

At today's meeting, the personnel officers' reasons for refusing to remove Sulev did not become clear. He appeared with lawyer Kostadin Kostadinov to be heard by the collegium on the occasion of the request submitted two weeks ago by i.f. the chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov for his temporary removal from office, due to his involvement as an accused. And after the hearing, which was held behind closed doors, the PC announced only that it did not remove him from office.

In the fall of last year, Konstantin Sulev was accused of an official crime, and three weeks ago the indictment against him was submitted to the Sofia City Court.

According to the indictment, the prosecutor committed the crime from May 30 to June 1 last year with five acts. The prosecutor's office claims that Sulev violated and also failed to fulfill his official duties in order to obtain a benefit for the former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev by not allowing information against him to be published in the media, as well as with the aim of causing harm to Petyo Petrov, known as Pepi Euroto, and Christian Hristov.

Hristov is one of those involved in the “Eight Dwarfs” scheme. for the seizure of the business and property of Ilia and Yavor Zlatanovi. Last year, he was arrested before giving a press conference where he promised to make revelations about his relationship with Petyo Petrov and his ex-wife Lyubena Pavlova.

His confession came after Pavlova told the “Anti-Corruption Fund”, which said that Petyo Petrov wrote the threatening letter to the former chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev. Hristov, in turn, stated that he worked for several years for Pavlova and Petrov and was forced to do “all sorts of things that are not morally OK, not legal, etc”.

The accusation, for which the prosecutor Sulev is facing the court, foresees from 1 to 8 years in prison, and according to the prosecutor's office, it could have caused considerable harmful consequences – illegally affecting the rights of citizens and damaging the prestige of the prosecutor's office.

The originally appointed judge in the case, Stoyan Mihov, recused himself. He is from the Sofia District Court, and currently seconded to the SGS. Therefore, he is in a collegial relationship with Sulev, as the two knew each other personally. In order to avoid any doubts about the judge's impartiality, he took himself away.

The case was assigned to a new judge – Lilia Georgieva.
