The integrity of the vote has no alternative, so attempts to buy votes and to taint the election in any other way will meet with our firm resistance. This was stated by acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev at the beginning of the first meeting of the newly appointed acting government, quoted by BTA.
„With the first meeting of the Council of Ministers, we are starting the intensive preparation for fair and free elections on June 9. As an official cabinet, this is our first priority and we will implement it strictly, respecting the Constitution and the laws of the country, in close coordination with the Central Election Commission, Glavchev pointed out.
„The official cabinet prepares the elections, but does not participate in them”, the acting prime minister also said.
Glavchev recalled that an election campaign is coming up, which, in his words, is expected to be “tense to say the least“.
„In this situation, we are expected to remain cool-headed from the first day to the last of this government. In our actions, we will be guided by the laws, common sense and the interests of the Bulgarian citizens. In addition to the preparation of the elections, we will also focus on solving urgent issues and problems in various spheres of public life. The state has no standby mode. We will always be at our workplace to guarantee the calm and efficient work of the institutions in the executive branch, Dimitar Glavchev pointed out.
„We have a mandate ahead of us, in which I am convinced that we will do a lot of work in the interest of the people,” said the caretaker prime minister. Glavchev wished success and fruitful work to the ministers from the caretaker government.
