In 2023, institutional sector “State Administration“ reports a budget deficit of BGN -3,454 million, or -1.9% of GDP, according to preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute.
The deficit in the sub-sector “Central management“ is in the amount of -3,375 million BGN, or -1.8% of GDP. Subsector “Local Government“ realized a deficit of BGN -201 million, and the sub-sector “Social Insurance Funds“ realized a surplus of BGN 121 million.
The debt of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2023 amounts to BGN 42,383 million, or 23.1% of GDP.
