The Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (KEVR) fined the NPP "Kozloduy" with over BGN 604 thousand because it abused the electricity market, BNT reported. The company used inside information for advantage. The sanction is not final and is subject to appeal.
"The company was sanctioned because of transactions concluded on 31.10.2021 and 1.11.2021 in violation of the prohibition established in Art. 3 of the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the integrity and transparency of the wholesale energy trading market (REMIT). This is the first sanction imposed by the regulator for violation of Art. 3 of the Regulation", KEVR explains.
At the time of the violations, the executive director of the plant was Nasko Mihov, who held this position until August 29, 2022. He was appointed to the post on November 20, 2018. In 2022, the Anti-Corruption Commission inspected the management of the Kozloduy NPP. because of suspected conflicts of interest. A year later, the commission ruled that there was no violation.
The Commission continues to monitor the energy market for irregularities.
