The meeting of the Supervisory Board of the National Social Security Institute has begun, at which a decision should be made on the increase in pensions from July 1, reports from BNR.
Official Social Affairs Minister Ivaylo Ivanov confirmed his intention before the meeting, which he announced yesterday that he would submit a proposal to increase pensions by 11%.
The Law on the Budget of the State Social Insurance for this year foresees an increase of 11%.
At the end of last week, however, it became clear that the expert calculations of the National Insurance Institute (NII) indicate that the increase should be 10%, since inflation is lower than estimated.
"We will see who will vote how from employers, trade unions and representatives of the state at the meeting itself. The Supervisory Board will make this decision. I hope my proposal for an 11% increase in pensions will be supported, he told journalists.
