Turkish delegation led by Yumer Erbiz, judge reporter in the General Directorate of Prisons and Probation at the Ministry of Justice in the Republic of Turkey visited the newly constructed prison complex in Samoranovo.
Twelve prison officers, probation officers, psychologists, teachers and sociologists from Ankara, Antalya, Istanbul, Denizle are visiting our country to exchange experience in the modernization of prisons.
Before that, the delegation was welcomed at the Ministry directly by Deputy Minister Georgi Nikolov.
He introduced them to the activities financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism in the penitentiary sector, which are in the final stage - a completely new prison complex with a prison, an educational and social center, production workshops, etc., 3 new prison dormitories, 4 transitional wards (half way house), 2 detention centers, a probation service and a training center.
The Turkish experts were also presented with the film “The Change”, illustrating everything achieved in the prison sector during the previous program period, financed by the NFM 2009-2014 - a completely new prison dormitory was built; renovated a total of 10 places of deprivation of liberty; electronic monitoring was piloted, several health care centers were built, work commitment was ensured for those deprived of liberty, etc.
Judge Yumer Erbiz thanked for the fruitful visit and was adamant that he and his colleagues will share the acquired experience with managers and employees of penitentiary institutions in Turkey.
