Fraud for millions with fake powers of attorney. A man who pretends to be a lawyer but is actually a paralegal helps accident victims get compensation. Most of his customers are illiterate. He convinces them that he will help them by giving some small amounts of money. Then he takes them to a notary. They sign a lot of documents, but they don't really know what they are signing because they can't read.
It turns out that a large part of the compensation goes to Valeri Georgiev from the hunting village of Zlatna Panega, the man who presents himself as a lawyer, and not to the people he represents. It is about thousands of BGN. There are also allegedly many fake powers of attorney presented to several insurance companies. There are also reports that one of our major insurance companies was defrauded of BGN 1.5 million.
Georgiev's partner – lawyer Petar Tikhin stated on the air of NOVA that “the attacks against him and his colleague came from competitors”.
„I will not mention names. It's about competition. People put complaints and reports against Valerie wherever they can – from the so-called impersonators who claim that he lied and cheated them”, Tikhin stressed.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs worked on fraud cases. Over the past 24 hours, three people have been detained - Valeri Georgiev, his partner, lawyer Petar Tikhin, and lawyer Tseno Stoyanov, through whose bank accounts the benefits were paid.
There are more arrests to come, as the investigation into the case continues.
