26 people were detained during an action in the capital's "Hristo Botev" district. in Sofia. The operation has been taking place since early morning and focuses on vote trading, but there are also detainees for other crimes, BNT reported.
So far, only 7 people have been arrested in connection with vote buying, and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated against them, explained the director of the SDVR ch. commissioner Lubomir Nikolov. According to him, one vote in the capital is traded between BGN 50 and BGN 100.
Among the others arrested are for possession of narcotic substances, car theft and issuance of false documents. In the course of the action, a "printing house" for fake higher education diplomas, Lyubomir Nikolov also said.
The police presence in "Hristo Botev" is reinforced. Several of the streets are blocked.
