Dragomir Stoynev: Assembly destroys energy. Stability in the sector is at risk - 1

„Stability in the energy sector is at risk not only from the inadequate policy and behavior of the rulers towards the way in which Bulgaria should participate in the Green Deal. Stability is also in question because of inadequate decisions and complete non-transparency of decisions in the energy sector and within the country. The risk of the increase in the price of electricity from July 1 is another proof.“ Dragomir Stoynev, leader of the list of “BSP for Bulgaria” in the 27th MIR Stara Zagora, at a meeting with energy workers in the town of Galabovo, reports the party's press center.

Yesterday, the Parliamentary Group of the “BSP for Bulgaria” requested that the hearing of the Minister of Energy and the Chairman of KEVR be included in the agenda of the extraordinary session of the National Assembly in connection with the officially announced information on the increase in the price of electricity from July 1 by 30%. The request was rejected and the BSP stated that there was a “covering up of the issue and no information being given because of the election campaign and people will be very unpleasantly surprised with the new bills on July 1st”.

According to the socialists “The assembly is really destroying the energy industry. The fact is that an application has been submitted for a 30% increase. The fact is that it has been withdrawn. The fact is that some other increase is being considered, but it is not clear what. But it is clear that from July 1 there will be an increase in the price. Bulgarian citizens deserve to hear firsthand how much their electricity will increase.“

Dragomir Stoynev expressed strong concern that if this instability and incompetence in the energy sector continues through a new management of GERB, PP-DB and DPS, the risks for the “Maritsa Iztok” are tall. “The social price will be paid by the people in the region, and the economic consequences will weigh on a national scale“, Stoynev also said. The next administration of Bulgaria should request a renegotiation of the Green Deal and the basis of this request should be the fact that the reduction of emissions should be based on the contribution of each member country, and not imposed administratively. Bulgaria has already achieved a 43% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2022 compared to 1990.

BSP also proposes a complete revision of the Territorial Plans for a just transition, with their preparation being entrusted entirely to the state, and not to private NGO organizations.

„ One of the strongest highlights of our program is the drafting of a Social Contract between the state and those employed in the mining industry, which would guarantee a compensatory financial mechanism when moving to an alternative workplace, introducing a special pre-retirement leave,< /strong> during which the miners will receive 80 percent of their salary, in case there is no alternative workplace”, he said.

Stoynev emphasized that many meetings are coming up in the region, in which those employed in the mines and thermal power plants will receive full information about the BSP's proposals, which for the most part are close to the demands of the trade unions in the sector.
