The Sofia-Burgas high-speed railway line it should be ready by 2027. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Georgi Gvozdeikov, on Nova TV.
„We are doing our best to implement the projects that are important to increase speed and safety in BDZ. The distance from Sofia to Burgas is 360 km, and the machine will move at 160 km/h. and it will pass the route in 3 hours”, he explained.
In his words, both the municipalities and the Ministry of Transport are committed to the national transport scheme.
„About 3 weeks ago we signed a contract with a Swiss company and we will receive eight double-decker trains. We have an option if financing is secured to order three more. Last week, the procedure for submitting offers for 35 single-decker trains was completed, the Minister of Transport also said.
He explained that a wide network of charging stations for electric cars is also to be built in our country. The project will be implemented under the "Transport connectivity" program, with funding of around BGN 90 million.
