A 36-year-old woman died after being attacked by her own dog. According to neighbors, the dog was aggressive and had attacked the deceased's partner some time ago. The breed of the pet is a pit bull. Many people get dogs without knowing what they are getting into. The reason is not the breed of the dog, but human irresponsibility. That's what Yavor Gechev said. According to him, the reasons for the animal's attack on its owner have yet to be established.
„The dog may have been provoked, may have had a health problem”, he said, adding that sometimes animals react to more specific smells, for example alcohol.
„There is no control over the breeding, trade and ownership of dogs”, explained the expert. “This dog may have been abused or may be a crossbreed. Both are prerequisites for unpredictable behavior," he added.
Gechev urged people who want to get a dog to inform themselves in advance about the characteristics of the breed and, if necessary, to seek help for its upbringing from specialists.
