The first American nuclear fuel, which has already been loaded into the fifth unit of the Kozloduy NPP, is a new beginning. Bulgaria has made clear decisions and for both power units there is supply from Western partners. This is what the chairman of “Bulatom” said on the air of Euronews Bulgaria. Bogomil Manchev.
Whether supplies from Russia should be completely cut off is a very serious issue, but it is also a political issue, Manchev pointed out.
I think that our country should agree on this issue with the “Euroatom” organization, which controls and monitors the movement of nuclear fuel in the European community.
In his words, if our country receives support from this organization, deliveries from Russia could also continue. However, Bogomil Manchev clarified that he does not consider this necessary, since our country has signed contracts for ten years with "Westinghouse" and “Framatom“.
According to him, it is good that now Bulgaria will supply fuel from two different companies and indicated that there will hardly be a problem with supplies.
