Against the background of the great political instability, the Bulgarian economy is doing very well, we dealt with inflation quite quickly. The labor market is also doing very well, we are catching up with the European level of GDP and purchasing power. Each person must have an individual assessment of their needs in order to prove who needs what kind of support.
Economist Adrian Nikolov said this on Nova TV.
"There are too many horizontal measures that affect the whole of society. There are no criteria for taking parental benefits, as a result those who need them continue to receive insufficient funds, he commented.
According to him, the demographic crisis, the repair of the social system, as well as the long-term increase in investments are among the long-term goals for the economy.
"I expect that the big winning party will adopt a more aggressive plan for demographic problems, be it with eased conditions for loans for young people or reverse migration,'' Nikolov pointed out.
According to him, there could be convergence in 4-5 years if the economy performs well.
''The flat tax is seen as a macroeconomic anchor and there will be no serious conversation about it. Insurance and building tax may be increased. Fiscal discipline after COVID was "thrown out the window", deficit budgeting became the norm", the economist explained.
