Prof. Georgi Fotev: This election campaign was shocking and disgusting. Her point was that there should be no campaign - 1

"This election campaign was shocking and disgusting. Its meaning is to have no campaign". Prof. Georgi Fotev, sociologist, former Minister of Science and Education, stated this to the BNR.

"The first measurements were held until the end. There were no serious debates on the major problems of Bulgarian society, which is part of the EU.

Elections in a democratic society have the task of developing democratic and political culture".

Unprecedented historical changes are taking place in the world, he noted.

"Becoming increasingly opaque – both the vital and the social. These issues should come out in the public forum. There is a need to protect democracy itself.

We will have to look at ourselves. If things happen somewhere that are negative, let's let others fix it.

Prof. Fotev explained why there was no public debate on the important topics in our country.

"The lack of such a debate has to do with the state of the national media. The journalistic profession is becoming even more difficult. We are talking about what dominates. There are some people who appear not as analysts, but as promoters. We know in advance what they will say.

The law on participation in the elections is absolutely disgraceful. The first concern should be to preserve and develop the essence of democracy. There were countless absolutely random participants.

I would recommend that a rule be made to curb foul language in Parliament. Parliament and the national media are not a mess. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech.
