Adrian Antonov requested that the case against him be considered by the summary procedure , which will reduce the amount of his sentence and the case will end quickly. This happened during today's dispositional hearing in the case of the accident of m.y. in Sofia, in which Ani and Yavor died, for which Antonov is charged, BTA reported.
With the request to hold an abbreviated trial, Antonov wants to fully acknowledge the facts in the indictment, his lawyer Dimitar Markovski pointed out.
The Sofia City Court accepted Antonov's request. The prosecutor's office and the lawyers of the relatives of the deceased indicated that there are no legal or procedural obstacles to the case being heard using the abbreviated procedure.
The judicial panel indicated that it should be considered whether the case should continue today under the abbreviated procedure or be postponed to another date. The prosecutor's office pointed out that there is no obstacle to the abbreviated procedure being held immediately after the end of the dispositional hearing.
The relatives of Ani and Yavor, as well as Antonov, stated that they wanted the summary proceedings to continue today, and the court approved this request, starting the summary trial.
The disaster happened on the capital's “Slivnitsa” on May 8, 2023. According to the prosecutor's office, Antonov violated traffic rules. He was traveling at a speed of 106 km/h (with a maximum permitted speed of 50 km/h), he did not miss Anna-Maria Milcheva (24) and Yavor Stoyanov (23) crossing the marked pedestrian path. Thus he carelessly caused the death of the two pedestrians.
