Due to the completion of the construction of the road from Mezdra to the road junction Novachane to Botevgrad, traffic will be stopped from Monday between Mezdra, Lutidol and the "Novachene" road junction, BNR reported.
Heavy trucks will pass through the Petrokhan Pass during the day and night except for three-hour peak traffic intervals in the morning and evening.
Official Minister of Regional Development Violeta Koritarova discussed with MPs from Montana and Vidin the options for detours.
The bypass through Petrokhan should be introduced for a period of 30 days and a traffic analysis carried out to assess whether a change is necessary. This was agreed upon at the meeting.
When construction works begin on Monday, June 24, heavy goods vehicles will not be able to pass through the Petrokhan Pass during peak hours and on weekends. The passage will be prohibited for trucks over 3.5 tons between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., as well as on Saturdays and Sundays. Thus, heavy goods vehicles will be able to travel through Petrokhan not only during the day, but also at night.
Detour routes for light freight and main and possible detours for heavy freight traffic are planned.
For cars, the detour will be on Pavolche road – Chelopek – Lutibrod – Eliseyna – His own – ring road of Sofia and back.
For heavy goods transport, the main bypass routes are:
The road Krapchene - Krivodol - Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik, the road Dolni Dabnik - Cherven bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM “Hemus“ and vice versa;
The road Vratsa - Borovan - Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik, the road Dolni Dabnik - Cherven bryag - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM “Hemus“ and vice versa.
The decision is based on a number of analyzes and there is no better alternative, according to the Traffic Police.
