He recalled that Evelin Banev was acquitted by the court on charges of money laundering. Meanwhile, they kill his partner and witness, two years later – and the mother of the main witness. Ten years earlier – in 2008, the Italian services provided a Bulgarian prosecutor and two officers from the GDBOP with information about 40 tons of cocaine annually from South America to Europe.
Tsvetanov admitted that the system (of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) had been breached and that is why he started working with small teams. “We had a kidnapping, no results. We had murders, there were no results,”, he explained. “When Evelin Banev was detained, a parallel investigation began in Romania. With the Bulgarian services, we managed to provide very valuable information to identify Bratoto and Evelin Banev, said Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
