Increased police presence in the Vratsa village of Malorad after the arrest of the mayor Ivo Ivanov. He was caught behind the wheel after using drugs.
Ivo Ivanov was detained and later released. He says he stopped voluntarily and was not running from the police, as was initially reported.
During a field test, the mayor was caught with cocaine and arrested. Some refused to comment, and others refused to believe, bTV broadcasts.
"Just to explain to you that I take a lot of pills and I had just taken my pills and had gone to have dinner in Byala Slatina. It's no secret to anyone with these fake tests, they also give it on TV. Until it is proven whether I am guilty or not, this nonsense that is being written", said Ivo Ivanov
Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov also commented on the case. "The car has been impounded, we will also wait for the results of the blood test, since it is still an official, the mayor of the town. His sample will be produced as a priority". he explained.
Two weeks ago, extraordinary elections for municipal councilors were held in the municipality of Borovan, after a video from the fall showed how in Malorad preferences were added to certain candidates. The new vote was decisively won by the "Vazrazhdane" party.
