The development of the northern regions of Sofia is among the leading priorities of the capital's mayor, Vasil Terziev, he said in a post on Facebook, news.bg reported.
The main objectives include improving access to these territories, providing adequate transport infrastructure and attracting more investment.
Terziev announced that he was present at the "first pitch" on sports grounds in the yard of 156 OU "Vasil Levski" in the "Kremikovtsi" area. The sites are expected to be completed for the new school year.
During the current year, significant repair works were carried out in the northern regions. The community center building in Buhovo has been renovated, and two playgrounds in the kindergarten there have been renovated. Children's playgrounds have also been renovated in the village of Jelyava. In addition, sidewalks were repaired in the "Kremikovtsi" and "Vrajdebna" neighborhoods. and "Chelopechene", as well as in the villages of Dolni Bogrov, Gorni Bogrov, Yana and Zhelyava. Repair works are currently being carried out on the sidewalks in Buhovo, and repairs are also planned in the "Botunets" quarter.
Among the most important infrastructure projects in the area is the reconstruction of the "Chelopeshko Shose" street. This street will provide a quick connection between the northern territories and the central part of the city. The budget of the Capital Municipality includes funds for the major repair of the section from the ring road to the bridge in the "Chelopechene" district. The projects for the repair of the section from "Botevgradsko Shose" Blvd. to the Ring Road are in the process of being prepared.
"My view is that the regional administrations should have more authority and financial resources, to participate in the key processes and in the determination of priorities to deal with the characteristic the challenges for his region", adds Terziev.
