Criminalist Georgi Ivanov, accused of stealing electricity, was dismissed on disciplinary grounds by order of the Minister of the Interior. The deputy director of hunting police, who is also a pensioner, received his notice on his birthday. He became embroiled in a series of scandals, the latest of which involved a pending case against him accusing him of stealing electricity.
In 2014, a violation was found in the police chief's home with data on illegal connection to the power grid. According to the energy company, Ivanov used illegal electricity for five years. In the document that NOVA has, it says that the connection was made with a blue cable, directly to the phase, and the correct reading of the consumption was avoided. The technicians call 112 and the police come to determine the theft of electricity. Two years after the case, Ivanov was returned to the leadership position in the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Lovech.
For more than a year, Ivanov has been appealing, asking magistrates to withdraw, and the case against him still cannot start. In the first days after the illegal connection to the energy company was found, Ivanov was criminally registered.
Before the next court session, which is on July 25, 2024, Ivanov requested a summary trial.
