The President of the Liberal International Hakima el Haite, Roman Jakic, President of the Liberal Network of South East Europe, (LIBSEEN) and Sir Graham Watson, a long-time leader of the European Liberals, send letters addressed to the Honorary Chairman of the DPS and the members of the operational the leadership of the party, emphasizing its unwavering support for Ahmed Dogan and calling for the situation to be addressed within the ranks of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
In her letter, the president of the Liberal International, Hakima el-Haite, expresses unwavering support and solidarity in the important mission of securing the unity and future of the DPS under the visionary and decisive leadership of Ahmed Dogan, underscoring the commitment of the Liberal International to uphold and protect those , who share common values and visions for the future.
„Resolutely and together we continue to give our support to you and DPS to resist any attacks on your political and personal integrity. Your opponents will always try to undermine your legacy and leadership, as some recent trends show. Rest assured that they will not succeed! We will support you.“, the letter from Hakima el Haite also says.
„Over the years, DPS has proven itself as a party of comprehensiveness and stability. It has served as a unifying force and an example internationally, guided by the vision of its Honorary Chairman, the DPS is moving in a true pro-European and pro-NATO course. “, writes Roman Yakic, president of the liberal network for Southeast Europe – LIBSEEN.
In the letter, the addressee expresses the hope that DPS will be able to cope with this problematic situation, with the help of wisdom and pro-European attitude, as befits the legacy of its founders, which the party has always carried.
The long-time leader of the European Liberals, Sir Graham Watson, expressed his concern at what was happening in the party and in his letter to Ahmed Dogan stated: “Unfortunately, I have witnessed more than once how individual selfishness has led the DPS away from its founding principles of unity and collective action for individual freedoms, which kept you coming back again and again to fight for the Party's principles.“ Graham Watson is adamant that Ahmed Dogan's leadership is irreplaceable.
The addressees define the situation in the Movement as unacceptable and are unanimous that they will continue to promote the importance of the unique ethnic model based on tolerance and respect and ensure that Bulgaria will remain firmly established in the Euro-Atlantic and democratic family of developed nations.
