The investigative journalist said that the alleged cocaine kingpin is no longer one after his sentences abroad. And he explained that his official rise in the criminal world happened alongside businessman Ivan Todorov-Doktora, who was conspicuously shot with 13 bullets in February 2006.
Brendo disappeared without a trace six years ago, when his sentence of 6 years in prison for laundering money from drug trafficking in our country came into effect as a last resort. Meanwhile, he was also sentenced abroad.
He received 20 years of imprisonment in Italy under the so-called "Cocaine Kings" case, and in Romania - 10 years in prison for drug trafficking. Because of the convictions, Brendo was wanted on a red notice by Interpol. After 6 years of unsuccessful search, on June 24, Brendo appeared at the doors of the Central Sofia Prison.
At that time, the Ministry of the Interior did not give a logical explanation as to how it was possible for a fugitive wanted by three countries to enter our country without any problems. Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov explained only that the Ministry of Defense suspects that he arrived in Bulgaria on June 8, 2022 with the illegal flight of a small "Piper" plane, which was found to have repeatedly violated the airspace of Hungary, Romania , Serbia and Bulgaria without establishing radio contact with it. The prosecutor's office then started an investigation into the case, but to no avail.
