The summer season, apart from vacation time, is also about road repairs. Going to the sea, drivers often get stuck in traffic jams due to the patching of holes on the asphalt, and the journey sometimes turns into a nightmare.
The route to the mountain town of Elena – a resort spot favored by tourists for weekends, is an important stretch of road. Unfortunately, the section is being repaired for a long time and it is not yet clear when this repair will be completed. And in the season when everyone travels to the sea, potholes and problems with roadways are expected in many places in our country. The Regional Ministry and API have taken a new policy this season – not to make it difficult for travelers during the summer season and not to block the sea, specifies Nova TV.
Repairs, however, must be made. Both the drivers and those responsible for fixing the potholes agree with this. "Three years nothing has been done. I can't hide it from the Bulgarian citizens," said Violeta Koritarova, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works.
The question is whether the rehabilitation of the important roads should start right now. "In the tourist summer season, when travel is active – to minimize repairs", the regional minister stressed.
And according to the drivers, there is also a compromise option – to work when there is no traffic. However, the regional ministry prefers to start patching the holes in the fall.
"Active repairs will begin in September, with the aim of preserving people's lives and health. In this regard, the opening of the two tunnels under repair of the AM "Hemus" - "Warm Valley" and "Praveshki inns". The tunnels will open next week and we will ease the traffic during the summer season and at the end of September we will close the other tube of the two tunnels," explained Koritarova.
However, this did not mean a stop to construction on the lots of "Hemus" and the new road arteries. There was funding for the highway from Sofia to the sea to reach between Pleven and Lovech.
