The fire that started last night in a coniferous forest in the area of the Kyustendil village of Vaksevo is spreading towards the foot of the Rila Monastery and the villages of Tishanovo and Frolosh in the municipality Kocherinovo.
"The Municipality of Nevestino built an observation fire tower last year, from which signals about fires or accidents are sent to the on-duty part of the town hall and responded to in a timely manner. And this fire is on very difficult terrain," Deputy Mayor of Nevestino Yordan Glogov told BNR.
Firefighting teams from Kyustendil and Rila were sent, as well as teams from the "Nevestino" forestry farms. and "Rila Monastery". The fire is already localized on an area of about 100 decares.
Today, the extinguishing of the fire, which started on July 11 in a mixed forest in the area of the villages of Kopriva, Crven Dol and Prekolnitsa near the border with North Macedonia, continues. About 650 decares were burned.
