„The changes in the Constitution were not only regarding the judicial system, but also official authority. The Constitutional Court restored some of the president's powers. They restored his rights to return appointments to the judiciary”.
This was explained to NOVA by the former MP and professor of Constitutional Law Prof. Ekaterina Mihailova.
According to her, the decision of the Constitutional Court was expected because many of the issues, when they were discussed in the Constitutional Commission, were rumored to be dropped.
„It is disappointing because on very few things the judges have a unified opinion. If there could be no Great National Assembly, it would be better. We don't know what will come out. If there is goodwill among politicians, according to the decision of the Supreme Court, which is written as a road map, these changes can be made based on it, she pointed out.
In her words, there have always been political figures in the composition of the Constitutional Court. According to her, it is not good for the current SJC to elect a new chief prosecutor.
