Only today we had the opportunity to approach the main part of the company's warehouse, near the service room, from where we inspected the accident scene. During the inspection, two bodies were found, both badly charred. One corpse is definitely that of a man. The bodies have been taken for autopsy and forensic examination, which will most likely take place tomorrow, as well as for identification by DNA analysis. One body was found under a concrete element, trapped and much more charred than the other. Both bodies were near the utility room. This was stated by the district prosecutor of Sofia Natalia Nikolova, quoted by novini.bg.
Prosecutor Nikolova emphasized that they are working on all versions – human error, technical malfunction, we will also check the intentional act version.
„All the documentation has been requested and will be provided to the investigators. Eight witnesses were questioned. The security guard was interrogated the evening after the incident, as well as the second one who managed to escape, also in the evening. In “Alexandrovska” hospital, the two autopsies will be performed on the two charred bodies. The other two autopsies will be done in “Pirogov”, she also said.
According to her, the investigation will be difficult: “It has legal and technical complexity from the very beginning. For two days we cannot approach the scene of the accident. Numerous examinations will also be required. Initially fire technical expertise, possibly triple. Examinations of the premises itself, what was stored there, etc.
„We have not finished examining the scene. He will continue when it is completely safe. We have taken the necessary steps in view of initial investigative actions and the removal of the bodies of the deceased. The space is huge, many things need to be described, we don't know how long it will take,”, the prosecutor also explained.
Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov emphasized: “The explosions continue. They are more deaf, probably in containers inside. We are working with heavy equipment cutting through the sunflowers to try to get the fire engines as close as possible and watering from a safe distance. It is up to us with the API to prepare the necessary signs, when we open the traffic, to indicate that pyrotechnics can be found on the road or on the side and that no one takes them and lights them.”
„There is no danger from the explosions, I assure the citizens. From day one, the necessary continuous measurements of air quality have been carried out, and for the moment there is no increase in the values. The sixth warehouse will not blow up."
„There is a lot of work ahead. This case currently has four victims, which is a great tragedy. Tomorrow, an interrogation of colleagues from the fire department, who risked their lives to save two people who died, is planned, he added.
Stoyanov explained about the boy who witnessed the incident: “He is lucky. He was present for 10-20 minutes at everything that happened inside. He calls 112, which is the second call to the emergency number. Seems like an extremely competent kid in the field, probably a student of people who are no longer alive.”
About the fire near the Bulgarian-Greek border, the minister said: “The fire is entering Bulgarian territory, and where there is information that there is a minefield. We have decided to request a plane from the EU, it will probably be operational on Tuesday.”
